To Start or Not to Start: The Dilemma of Shifting My Life
I have had an interesting life. Good bad and ugly for sure. It's been great, don't get me wrong, but I often feel like it is very ordinary. To me. However, seemingly to others, it's not. This got me thinking, maybe I should share some of my life and the interesting stories I have and adventures I head out on. Or maybe I shouldn't because really who is ever going to read this stuff? Who cares? Is it going to be a waste of time? Or maybe it's a good outlet for me to express myself? Maybe answer some questions for inquiring minds? I mean I have a lot of questions from 47 years of living, and a hell of a lot of lessons learned, and more still to come without doubt.
So should I do this or not? Pursue your passions they say! Quit your day job! You only live on life! All advice...but maybe not great advice. Well, they say starting is the hardest thing to do. So here goes…
What are the Cons of starting a Blog? Well coming up with something negative, is really something I stay away from in general. It's never got me anywhere in life. That being said, I should perform my due diligence and put some thought into it...so here goes:
1. It will be a time thief
My life is really a daily routine of jam-packed stuff to do. Work, take care of my animals, take care of my home, check in with the people I love, work, volunteer, self-care, adventures, provide real food for my family (gardening, hunting, fishing), spend time with the people I love, spend time with my one of my favourite humans and making sure to give him my love and attention, sharing my adventures with said favourite human, working, walking the dog, make time to connect with my friends. Hmmmm...I'm not sure these are cons, but it's a start.
2. Coming up with creative content
What on earth will I write about and what would people possibly want to read? I mean, I mentioned that I've had an interesting life. With never-ending stories. Will they be interesting to anybody though? Well, I suppose the biggest critic will likely be myself, but I think I can come up with the content. I suppose it will be up to the reader if it's creative enough...
3. Failing
Oh, this is a really big one. I'm pretty sure that I have an entire blog or actually a year's worth of blogs about failing. This is one adventure in life that I think I have mastered. So I guess it's a matter of perspective as to whether it will be a failure, a stepping stone, or a combination of both.
What are the Pros of starting a Blog? The number one question I get now in my life is "You did that by yourself?" The next question would be "Where do you find time?" I used to get annoyed when someone asked me that. Where do you find the time? I mean where do people find the time to watch TV? Because I would love to watch more Netflix, but just don't have the time. Don't get me wrong, I have found time to watch the Yellowstone series, Blacklist, and many others over the years. I think I just choose to do other things. So here are some compelling reasons to start something I see as worthwhile:
1. Pursuing My Passion
Starting something that I am passionate about allows me to share what I think I'm great at. Not only do I get to do the things I love doing, but it will become easier to overcome obstacles and stay motivated when things become hard. If I do what I'm passionate about, the work eventually is going to be more enjoyable and fulfilling. Ha...sounds easy!
2. Sharing My Passion
So I'm out living the best life. Going on some really great adventures, learning new things...if I start sharing these great adventures and tidbits on life, maybe, just maybe, I might inspire someone else to live an adventurous life!!! Ok...this is getting better.
3. Developing My passion
I started really diving into the passion of adventures and living life to the fullest. Then I get on this platform and start sharing it. Someone gets inspired to also start living an adventure-filled and purposeful life. Then where do I go? Well, I guess that just means that I'm going to have to develop the current adventures. Conjure up more adventures. Well, I think I'm doing a pretty great job of convincing myself, and I hope it's giving you a nudge!!
So...after all this silliness and bullshit back and forth in my head, I made the careful (lol) decision to dive in. Make a website. Take the risk of being judged and criticized and more importantly, I mean hopefully, inspire others to LIVE!
I hope you will join me on this journey of adventuring, traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening, pursuing my career, and all of the the other great things that come up along the way.
Life…it's what you make of it. So let's make it an adventure!
